When you spend your life focused on pleasing others, or being highly driven or conscientious, maybe practising perfectionism - and ignoring or tossing your own needs, emotions & self-care aside, eventually your well-being demands to be heard.

Together with the often subconscious & buried anger, sadness, resentment, fears, etc, this fuels an imbalance in your nervous system. This self-protecting system will start to generate subtle uncomfortable niggles and tension in your body, telling you something isn't right - but which too many of us just disregard and push through.

Over time these nudges from your inner world can develop into more significant dysregulation in your nervous system, dis-ease and persisting pain.

That was me.

My Personal Story of Recovery

A few years back, the demands from life had grown exponentially. I found myself in overwhelm, feeling lost. And I just couldn't see a way out.

As we often feel obliged to do, I pushed on - "coping". But I was left feeling almost "broken", and my confidence took a deep dive, too.

Curiously, I'd also developed pains in the soles of both my feet, symptoms that just wouldn't go away no matter what logic or treatments I tried. And I also had yet another severe episode of my recurring & debilitating back pain.

With good timing, I came across the mind-body approach of SIRPA in a physiotherapy journal... and realised that my symptoms were linked with this significant, emotionally stressful time in my life.

It wasn't actually the physical structures of my back or feet causing the symptoms... It was the intricate link between my mind, my stress & what I was feeling in my body.

I had also recently discovered the work of master life coach, Nancy Levin. I realised the coaching & boundary concepts she taught would help me and my clients in chronic pain. And as if by magic, Nancy announced she was launching her new life-coaching academy. The result? I was honoured to become the academy's first UK Levin Life Coach!

What I learned in my life coaching training was phenomenal and became an incredible life-changing experience for me - which is why I'm so excited to be both a mindbody physio and a life coach - & able to offer you exceptional on-line coaching programmes.

So, putting all that I was learning into practice, I embodied all the mind-body strategies & life-coaching concepts that I now teach & integrate in "Freedom From Pain", my transformative online coaching programme.

I accepted the neuroscience, learned to compassionately adjust my beliefs, set healthier boundaries, boost my daily self-care, soften my stress-inducing personality traits, and perhaps most importantly, uncover & gradually release the buried emotional turmoil I was continuing to accumulate through my particular perceptions of life's experiences.

And in so doing all my pains resolved.

I'm now delighted to be able to share this knowledge and these proven strategies & practices with you, and to guide & support you in your own journey to freedom from pain.

The Origins of the Mind-Body Approach & Freedom From Pain

Pioneering medical professor, Dr John Sarno, helped thousands of long-term-pain patients in the 1970s to 2010s achieve full recovery - by opening up their understanding of the deep connections between mind, body, suppressed emotions & pain.

His phenomenal success expanded with his American successors - & has been backed up & confirmed with reliable research - and many thousands of recovery stories.

In a study published in 2021, approximately 66% of patients who'd been suffering with back pain for up to 10 years became pain free or nearly pain free after being randomly assigned to treament with this approach. (Ashar et al 2022). And these wonderful recovery journeys were sustained at the one and five year follow ups.

UK Chartered Physiotherapist, Georgie Oldfield, worked with Sarno & brought this revolutionary approach to the UK & Europe, and in 2010 started SIRPA, our leading post-graduate training organisation in this approach for healthcare professionals.

With such life-changing results, and following over 25 years experience in musculoskeletal physiotherapy & an ongoing passion to better understand the complexities of pain, I qualified as a SIRPA practitioner. And wanting to deepen certain skills & understandings even further, I trained to become a certified Levin life-coach, too.

Combining all this together, I created the comprehensive 10 step Freedom From Pain programme which I am now so pleased to be able to offer you.
